Send User Feedback and Crash Reports Directly to Asana
The buddybuild platform includes an SDK to help streamline communication between development teams and their end users. Using the buddybuild SDK makes it trivial for the users of an app to send graphically annotated screenshots and notes, and crash reports with metadata and Instant Replays to the development teams.
Today, we’re excited to announce first-class integration for the buddybuild SDK with Asana!
With this new integration, user feedback (either a screenshot or crash report) will automatically open a task in a specified Asana project.
Buddybuild’s Asana integration is the latest in our growing list of supported issue trackers — buddybuild also integrates with JIRA, Trello, Pivotal Tracker, GitHub Issues, GitLab Issues, and Bitbucket Issues. With these integrations, our goal is to help development teams track, triage, and drive user reported issues to closure faster, in the tools they’re already using in their daily development.
Integrate Asana with buddybuild
Configuring buddybuild to automatically create Asana tasks based on User Feedback and Crash Reports can be done in a few simple steps.
Start by navigating to your App Settings, within the Integrations section in the left side menu, click on Asana.
If you have not already installed the buddybuild SDK into your current app you will be prompted to do so prior to activating the integration.
Click the Connect with Asana button and provide your Asana credentials.
Once authenticated, you can configure settings for User Feedback by selecting a default Asana workspace, project, and section where User Feedback tasks will be created.
Next, you can configure settings for Crash Reports by selecting a default Asana workspace, project, and section where Crash Reports tasks will be created.
Once you have configured Asana for your first app you can choose to have buddybuild apply these app settings as defaults for all new apps add to your organization, by clicking Yes, save as default integration.
The next time a user sends feedback or a crash report is generated it will appear as a new task in your team's Asana board.
Configuring Default Tagging for Asana Tasks
If your team uses tags to classify tasks within your projects, you can automate the tagging process by setting default tags for Feedback and Crash Reports. On the Asana configuration screen, under Feedback settings and Crash Report Settings, you can select the default tags buddybuild will assign to all new tasks created.
Backfilling Feedback and Crash Reports into Asana
To save teams the time and effort of recording past issues in Asana, buddybuild provides an easy way to backfill existing user feedback and crash reports from buddybuild into Asana.
When you open a specific piece of feedback or view a crash report in buddybuild, simply click the ‘Create Asana Task’ link, to add a new task for existing user feedback and/or crash reports.
Configure Asana Integration for Multiple apps
If you would like configure Asana integration for multiple apps, without configure settings for each app separately, you can do so using Org Level settings. Hover over your profile on the upper right-hand side of the dashboard and select “Manage Org”.
Once in the Org Level Settings you will see Settings for all Apps. Click on “Asana” under Integrations. From there, you can define org level default settings for both Feedback and Crash Reports including which workspace, project, section, and default assigned buddybuild should use when creating tasks.
To apply these settings to a set of apps, click the wand icon and select from the following options: Apply to all existing apps, Apply to all existing iOS apps, Apply to all existing Android apps, Select Apps to apply to.
As long as the buddybuild SDK has been installed on the apps select, the next time a user sends feedback or a crash report is generated it will appear as a new task in your team's Asana board.
By integrating directly with development teams issues tracking tools, like Asana, developers can track, triage and drive user reported issues to closure faster, in the tools they are already using.
Buddybuild’s Asana integration is available today for all teams on one of our Business Plans.
